The photographic masterpieces of Joseph and Janet Jones, of Studio JoJan, will be on exhibit at the Harmony Hall Gallery on Sunday, March 7, beginning at 12 pm.
Over 25 images, in both black & white and colour, some dating back nearly 20 years, will be shown alongside pieces as recent as last year. The collection gives a "photographic retrospective" of Antigua & Barbuda, and follows various subjects that have interested the couple over the years. Highlights inlcude a one slide film of older images originally scanned years ago, and all of Janet's work shot with digital cameras.
According to the couple, the collection emphasizes their passion for the land and the people of Antigua & Barbuda, and seeks to elicit a variety of emotions from their audience. They hope that viewers will recognize the innate beauty and poetry in everyday lives and surroundings, that should be treasured.
There are some very strong pieces from work in the Grays Green community that make great juxtaposition against the more sentimental landscapes.
This exhibition will be the first major showing of Joseph and Janet's work as a couple - Studio JoJan. Joseph's first major showing was a monograph of the 40 images displayed at the Museum for Antigua & Barbuda's 21st Independence anniversary.
Studio JoJan will next be embarking on a book project that will feature selected photographs spanning their careers. They are also preparing for yet another major showing for the 30th Anniversary of Independence to be titled "Antigua & Barbuda, Each Endeavoring All Achieving."
