Students have been awarded for their overwhelming participation in this year's LIAT sponsored Antigua Sailing Week Schools’ Art Competition. A remarkable 278 entries were received from 20 schools across the island.
Co-ordinator Thalia David said, “All submissions this year were of an extremely high calibre, and all participants should be incredibly proud of their achievements. It is genuinely inspiring to see such imaginative thinking and exciting ideas showcased through the competition."
Brian Challenger, LIAT’s CEO, said, "We were delighted with the interest in the competition and to see so many local schoolchildren participating. We’re really pleased with the winning designs and think that they look absolutely brilliant."
Among the winners, Jamie Gardner (Senior Division), has been participating for a number of years. She was the overall winner in 2008, and gained an honourary mention in 2009. She will once again have her artwork displayed on a billboard welcoming visitors to English Harbour, home of Antigua Sailing Week.
All of the artwork will be on display at Admiral’s Inn and HQ Restaurant in Nelson's Dockyard from April 24 to May 1. The winners will be presented with their prizes during Dockyard Day festivities on May 1 at 3 pm.
