A Tasty Lunch At Napoleon

E-mail

A Tasty Lunch At NapoleonNapoleon Café is a very relaxing and beautiful spot located in St John’s. As you might imagine, it does capitalize on the old French general, Napoleon Bonaparte.

The restaurant itself is designed with a nostalgic French touch. The café is open for breakfast and lunch, with different menus for both, has a good wine selection, and great service.

For my review, I decided to stop in at lunch time. At first, I thought this was just a café, but after being introduced to the menu, it turned out to be much more.

So I decided to order the French onion soup topped with cheese toast ($20), cheese burgeA Tasty Lunch At Napoleonr garnished with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and fries ($32) and the 8 oz strip loin steak served with peppercorn sauce, fries and salad ($60), To drink, I decided on the Merlot grand sud (France) ($14.50).

One of the bold features of Café Napoleon is the fine service. For this class of restaurant, the service was great. The food arrived quickly, the waitress was kind and professional, and there was a positive and pleasant atmosphere.

First arrived the oA Tasty Lunch At Napoleonnion soup and cheese toast. The soup had an excellent consistency, the onion and the black pepper enriched the flavour, and overall I enjoyed this dish fairly well. Next arrived the cheese burger and the steak. The cheese burger was well proportioned. Thick, juicy, and delicious. The cheese was a mozzarella, and had a rich, smoky, salty flavor.

The 8 oz strip loin was cooked just as I had requested, medium rare. It came with two dipping sauces, peppercorn and another with a salsa-like flavour. It was delicious. The steak itself had a peppercorn taste, but one somewhat different from the sauce. It was delectable. Also, the fries and the salad helped keep things fresh and flavourful.

My wine of choice, the Merlot grand sud, is a relatively cheap one. It is not designed to be the high-class, top of the line fine wine. Still, it does have a nice dark berry fruit flavour.

Overall, Café Napoleon was very satisfying, and certainly an excellent lunch. I would recommend it for work goers looking for quick and tasty breakfasts and for families looking for a relaxing lunch in town.
