The Antigua and Barbuda Canoe Racing Association was featured on Sunday, the second day of the Queen’s Baton Relay. The ABRCA has been spearheading the development of canoeing/kayaking, with members conducting training sessions and time trials for the 2012 Olympic Games.
On their leg of the baton pass, the group kayaked from Pigeon Point beach to the English Harbour marina in spectacular form.
Over the two days – March 13 and 14 – the baton was escorted around the island by members of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda Special Ops Unit.
The baton pass ended at Camp Blizzard, where it was airlifted to Barbuda. It will make its way to Dominica on Tuesday and to Montserrat on Wednesday.
The baton contains a message from Queen Elizabeth II and symbolizes the staging of the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India.
The relay started on October 1, 2009 and will end on June 25 in India.
